We’ll Show you Some Good and Bad Ways to Rate GPS Units
Hi,
Welcome to the site. I’m Pilot Paul and I have been using GPS units in my jets (both commercially and in the military) for quite some time.
I absolutely love using one in a car, especially when I am traveling and in unfamiliar areas.
Portable GPS units are becoming less and less of a luxury item as the prices drop and the market becomes flooded with new devices.
They definitely save you travel time and are much safer than trying to read a map or directions while driving.
Our Best GPS Review Results…
From our research, our two most favorite portable GPS brands are
Magellan
and Garmin.
We realize that the best GPS review and recommendations may vary for different people’s needs. You should consider what is the most important to you while balancing that with price.
For complete details about why I like this,

Now, if you are willing to spend a bit more, and you want the absolute best, most powerful and versatile GPS from my review, I highly recommend the Garmin nuvi 660 GPS.
The 660 is, in my opinion, the best on the market.
Best GPS Review- Features
What you really need to do is shopping for a GPS is to decide what features are the most important to you.
Why pay more for things that you won’t use, but why save a few dollars and not get something that you could really benefit from.
For me, the most important things are:
User-Friendliness
Voice-guided commands- You really need it to talk to you
Live Traffic Update Capability
User Friendliness is important because if the GPS is complicated to and use (especially while driving), the purpose of having a GPS can be defeated.
The brand that did the best in our GPS review for ease of use and programming were the Magellan GPS models.
I liked the Tom Tom the least for this.
The live traffic updates and capability to reroute you can save you lots of time and money. One saved appointment can easily pay for this service.
Here are other features to consider depending on your needs:
Memory and is it upgradeable?
Battery Life
Warranty
Built-in base maps- what regions and whether you need to download more
