Here's an article about criusuing in Paris.
River Cruises from Paris
When an American thinks about a cruise, what comes to mind
is an ocean voyage to a popular cruise destination like
the Caribbean, the Mexican Riviera or the distant states
of Alaska and Hawaii. For European cruises, Scandinavia
and the Greek Isles are popular with the American tourist.
However, a well-kept secret is that Europe offers some
exceptional river cruises that appeal to the savvy traveler.
Whether you're looking for river cruise that starts in
Paris, stops along Paris or ends in Paris, you can find one
from some of the best European cruise companies. Peter
Deilmann Cruises for example offer cruises along with the
Seine River. Starting in March 2005, three out of four of
Deilmann Cruises will depart from "The City of Love".
Options such as overnight stays, stops from Versailles to
Rouen, and land tours of "The City of the World" are
available on many of Deilmann Cruise excursions. The week
long river cruise also stops in historic and artistic-renown
town such as Giverny, Claude Monet's home of 43 years.
These Paris-based cruises are aboard the five-star river
vessel the Cezanne, which carries 100 passengers in luxury.
The accommodations aboard the Cezanne are the largest
available on the Seine River and average about 170 square
feet, which compares well to cabins aboard ocean cruise
ships. All cabins feature a private bath and come equipped
with today~s expected amenities like color TV. Deluxe
accommodations feature full-length windows for scenic
cruising.
Service on Cezanne is not amiss. The passenger to crew
member ratio is 2.5:1. Meals are prepared six times a day:
breakfast, morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon pastries and
tea, complete dinner, and an evening snack. Unlike other
river cruises, every cruise on the Cezanne is staffed with a
doctor.
Deilmann Cruise isn't the only option for a Paris-bound
river cruise. Other companies such as Virtuoso River Cruise
have a two-week tour down the Rhine River but starting
with a few days in Paris. This luxury "European Heartland"
cruise is aboard a ship that holds a cozy 73 cabins.
This special 14-day cruise by Virtuoso starts in Paris,
where passenger can enjoy a leisurely 3-day stay in "The
City of Lights". Then the ship sets sail down the Rhine for
fine looks at historic sights such as the medieval Rhine
Castle. The cruise makes additional stops at Trier,
Germany's oldest city, and Moselle Valley wine country.
Upon arrival at the final destination, Prague, passengers
enjoy 2 nights at this city before completing their cruise.
Some advantages of river cruising your way through some of
Europe's finer sights are avoiding the rush-rush of a tour
bus and unpacking every time you move to a new hotel.
Another plus about traveling this way is the reassurance
that crew and you can communicate in English. After looking
into this romantic way to visit Paris and other areas of
Europe in a style that costs about the same as traveling by
bus or on an ocean cruise, why not experience your vacation
in a fresh, new style?
